Goal
Fill in every answer. Words run across or down and cross each other where they share a letter, so each answer you find gives you letters for the ones it crosses. Every puzzle has a brand-new layout.
Controls
- Tap a square
- Select it. A numbered square picks the word that starts there. Where two words cross, tap it again to switch between across and down
- Keyboard
- Type letters with the keyboard under the grid. ⌫ deletes, ⇄ switches direction
- Clue bar
- Shows the current clue. Tap it to switch direction, or use the arrows for the previous and next clue
- Letters
- Type the answer. The cursor moves on by itself
- ↑ ↓ ← →
- Move around the grid, or click a square (a numbered one picks the word that starts there). Clicking it again switches direction
- Space
- Switch between across and down
- Tab Enter
- Next clue (Shift for the previous one), or click a clue in the lists
- Backspace
- Delete a letter and step back
- Esc Ctrl+M
- Pause, mute
Daily puzzle
A new puzzle every day at midnight, the same for everyone. It can be a Medium, a Hard or a Master. Finish it on consecutive days to build your streak, then share your time.
Levels
- Easy: about 10 everyday words with plain clues.
- Medium: about 15 words, longer and more tightly linked, still with plain clues.
- Hard: about 20 words on a bigger grid, with trickier clues that use a word's less obvious meaning. Some local words like BRAAI turn up.
- Master: about 25 words with tricky clues and rarer words.
Clues
A clue ending in ? is playing with words, so don't take it literally. ___ marks a missing word to fill in. A clue for a plural answer is plural too.
Stuck?
- Check a letter, a word or the whole grid. Wrong letters get a red line.
- Reveal a letter or a word (or the whole grid, outside the daily). Revealed letters get a corner mark and stay put.
- Auto-check marks wrong letters as you type.
Open these with the light bulb at the top. Help is always allowed, but only a solve without any sets a best time, and your shared result says how much you used.
