A tower defence game where you build the maze
Bushveld Blitz is a free tower defence game set in the South African bushveld. There's no fixed road: the Blitz Brigade, a goofy cartoon army in maroon and khaki, marches across an open field towards your ranger camp, and every tower you build changes the route they take. The longer the path you wall them into, the more time your towers get to pop them into puffs of smoke.
New to tower defence? After a short story sets the scene, the game teaches you as you play: tip cards cover the basics on the first map, and each new troop or tower gets its own card with a tip.
What's in the game
- Five maps of 30 waves: Marula Flats, Fever Tree Drift, Koppie Crossing, Hippo Pool and Baobab Ridge, with waterholes, rocky koppies and a river you can only cross at the fords.
- Six towers with three levels each: the Popper, Gloop and Skyrocket from the start, then the Mortar, Zapper and Sunbeam as you clear the first three maps.
- Nine kinds of troop: fast Scooters, Medics who heal their friends, armoured Heavies and Tanks, Choppers and Blimps that fly over your maze, and the Mega Tank boss on waves 10, 20 and 30.
- Endless mode on every map you've cleared, up to three stars a map, and runs that save so you can carry on later.
Tips
- Poppers are cheap, so use them as walls. A long zigzag early on does more than a few strong towers on a short path.
- Flyers ignore your maze. Build Skyrockets near their flight path, and pop Blimps early, before their troopers parachute into your maze.
- Stop Medics first, or the troops around them keep getting patched up.
- Tanks shrug off small hits, so bring in Mortars, Zappers and Sunbeams. Keep Mortars a little back from the path: they can't hit troops right beside them.
- Built a tower in the wrong spot? Sell it before it fires and you get every cent back.
