Free crosswords with a daily puzzle

Crossword gives you a fresh puzzle whenever you want one, plus a daily crossword that's the same for everyone on the same day. The grids are free-form: words cross wherever they share a letter, with open space instead of black squares, so every puzzle has its own shape. The clues are hand-written, use British and South African spelling, and on the harder levels include local words like braai, bakkie and stoep.

What's in the game

• Four levels: Easy (about 10 words), Medium (about 15), Hard (about 20) and Master (about 25). Easy and Medium use everyday words and plain clues. Hard and Master add rarer words and trickier clues.
• A daily crossword with a streak to keep and a result you can share.
• Over 8,000 words, each with a plain clue and a tricky one, so puzzles rarely repeat.
• Help when you need it: check a letter, a word or the whole grid, reveal a letter or a word, or switch on auto-check.
• An on-screen keyboard on phones, clue lists beside the grid on bigger screens, and a dark or light theme.

Tips

• Start with the short answers. Three- and four-letter words give you crossing letters quickly.
• A clue ending in a question mark is playful. Think about a less obvious meaning of the words.
• Spelling is British and South African: colour, centre, tyre.
• Help is always there, but only a solve without any sets a best time.
• Any finished daily counts towards your streak, even if you needed help.
